JECO

tree-plantingJECO is a Jewish youth group with an emphasis on the environment and how Jewish values invoke us to protect the earth. Organized by Rabbi Schachar Orenstein, they have recently embarked on a trip to New Orleans to help clean up the oil spill that occurred in May 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico. The group also intends to celebrate Tu B’Shvat with the Westmount greenhouse.

For the time being, JECO is at capacity in terms of participating members, but we encourage you or your teen to enrol for the September 2011 session. If this is not satisfactory, we encourage you to look into Teva-Quebec, another environmental group headed by Rabbi Orenstein with similar aims and missions.

For more information about JECO, please visit its website at http://www.jecotraining.org/index.html. To learn more about Teva-Quebec, click here.
